IOWA SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION PARTNERSHIP
The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is the exclusive biodiesel partner of Big Time Grain Co. Through the use of a biodiesel-powered tour van, this partnership promotes using clean-burning biodiesel and spreads awareness of biofuel benefits to farmers and communities.
FARM FUEL TOUR BIODIESEL IMPACT
During the Farm Fuel Tour, Big Time Grain Co.
will travel over 15,000 miles across the Midwest in their biodiesel van. The use of biodiesel results in a lifecycle greenhouse gas emission reduction of 86% when compared to petroleum-based
ABOUT BIODIESEL
-
Biodiesel is non-toxic, biodegradable, ultra-low sulfur and 0% aromatic.
-
Iowa leads the nation in biodiesel production, with the state’s 11 biodiesel plants producing an estimated 349 million gallons in 2022.
-
Soybean oil is the most commonly used feedstock in biodiesel production.
-
By increasing oil value, biodiesel supports 13% of the price per bushel of soybeans. This equated to $1.78 per bushel in 2022.
-
Most of the raw materials used in Iowa’s biodiesel production are purchased in Iowa. This provided a market for oil from nearly 162 million bushels (28%) of homegrown soybeans in 2022.
-
Biodiesel can be used in any diesel engine without modification, making it easy-to-use.
IMPORTANCE OF BIODIESEL
Biodiesel is better for engines due to higher cetane and improved lubricity, all while being safer for the environment. Biodiesel production also supports 7,278 full-time Iowa jobs and creates tax revenue.
“We are honored and hugely grateful to be partnering with the Iowa Soybean Association and Iowa’s soybean farmers again this year on our Farm Fuel Tour,” said Chad Bourquin, lead guitarist and vocalist.
“Combining great music with promoting clean burning, homegrown biodiesel benefiting farmers and the communities in which we perform just makes us smile.”
